AT&T Mobility expands 3G phone coverage in PTC II

Dec 22,2008

“Our goal is to ensure that AT&T Mobility customers have the very best wireless experience possible — which means unmatched coverage and quality of service,” said Keith Holmes, vice president and general manager for AT&T’s Georgia Mobility and Consumer markets. “These 3G enhancements give local wireless customers strengthened coverage as well as critical connecting coverage for those that travel to and from Peachtree City.” The company’s 3G network delivers LaptopConnect users typical downlink speeds ranging between 700 kilobits per second (Kbps) and 1.7 megabits per second (Mbps), and faster uplink speeds ranging between 500 Kbps and 1.2 Mbps. The faster uplink speeds allow users to quickly send large files, taking full advantage of the latest Internet and business applications. AT&T Mobility’s 3G network is now available in 335 U.S. major metropolitan areas, including Atlanta, Savannah, Columbus, Gainesville, Dalton, McDonough and Rome. The company will deliver 3G service to nearly 350 leading U.S. metro areas by the end of 2008. “Continued investment in the latest wireless technology is good for business and consumers in Peachtree City and throughout Fayette County,” said Mayor Harold Logsdon of Peachtree City. “It will not only keep residents connected but will also help economic development efforts by offering businesses the technology and services that rival those found in our state’s biggest cities.” The company’s wireless network is built on the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) standard — the most open and widely used technology in the world. AT&T Mobility devices work in more than 200 countries and regions.
