Nov 18,2008

Alltel looks to be launching a follow-up to its Hue cell phone with the Hue II. The Samsung phone, also known as the SCH-r600, is an attractive clamshell that will support Alltel's 3G digital network. Measuring up at 108mm x 54mm x 20mm (3.8" x 1.9" x 0.7") and weighing just 96g (3.4oz), the Hue II covers the basics and then some. Users can change the look of their Hue II on the fly with changeable face plates and the handset's front flip sports external music keys for ultra convenience. The Samsung Hue II handset itself features a 2.2" internal display capable of rendering 262,000 colors as well as a small 1" display on the outside. The device also features a 2 megapixel camera, an MP3 music player, and an expandable microSD storage slot for music files. GPS support, speakerphone functionality, and Bluetooth are also available. A range of Alltel services are supported by the Samsung Hue II, including Music Connect, Celltop, and Navigation to display selected bits live information right on the handset. Full PIM functionality such as calendar, memo, and world time applications are also on-board. The Samsung Hue II for Alltel is available now for US$39.99, after online discounts and a mail-in rebate along with a two-year service agreement. The Hue II sales package includes a range of colored faceplates for the device.
