1.Characteristics and applications of titanium-aluminum clad metals, titanium-aluminum-titanium clad metals (titanium-aluminum explosive clad metals)
1)With good corrosion resistance, and good electric conductivity, titanium-copper or titanium-aluminum clad tubes and bars can make plating electrode. Welding a very thin layer of titanium above of aluminum bar as electrode rod, which gives electrode rod in chemical electrode bath good electric conductivity, and corrosion resistance. As a new type electrode materials, with their excellent electric conductivity and corrosion resistance, titanium-aluminum clad tubes/bars in electrode bath, has replaced traditional graphite electrode.
2)Titanium and aluminum have high specific strength and stiffness, are used to make structures materials in aviation and aircrafts industries. Since the lightweight of titanium, aluminum, copper, the aerospace equipments can be lightened as well as improving its properties. However, titanium is expensive. According to the requirements of speed, and other conditions, aluminum and its alloy can't meet the applications. Therefore, some countries have been researched and developed titanium-aluminum clad metals, and its applications in aviation and aerospace industries since the sixties of 20th century. Titanium-aluminum clad metals have comprehensive characteristics of physics, mechanics, and chemistry; however, every single metal doesn't have these properties. 3)In the civil industry: with the flatness and surface glossiness, titanium-aluminum clad plate is much better than stainless steel plate on machinability. With its good heat conductivity, it becomes the perfect material for solar water heater, frying-pan, electric rice cooker, etc, such heating and heat transfer devices.
